Today we are here to talk about supplements. I get asked about this all the time and there is so much misinformation out there. Quality is most important here and consulting with your doctor prior to starting any supplements is important to ensure you don’t have any interactions with current prescriptions. Choosing the right supplements can be a game changer. A drug store brand or cheap version of vitamins can really be more harmful than helpful and also waste money. Finding vitamins that list whole fruits and vegetables shows the vitamins are coming from a field and not a lab. Absorption from a high quality vitamin is much higher and will bring great results. The produce we buy today is much less quality nutritionally than what we saw 30 years ago. Fields are overturned too regularly which means no time for minerals to be reestablished in the ground therefore creating less nutrient dense produce. Vitamins act as fill in the blanks when food isn’t providing what we need to operate at our highest potential.

Quantity and proper dosage is also so important. I hear so many times that people didn’t know what to take so they just started adding things in. Many times, one vitamin will contain multiple vitamin sources therefore creating a danger of overdoing it. Make sure you consult with a dietitian or nutritionist to decide what and how much might be right for you.

When utilized properly, vitamins can be a game changer for your health. Start by making small changes and cater them to your particular needs. Don’t know where to start?
